BUSINESS INFORMATION - National Standardization Agency (BSN) has issued the Indonesian National Standards (SNI) for the construction of earthquake resistant buildings are new to the area considered vulnerable to disasters.

Standardization of this new construction, according to the head of BSN, Bambang Setiadi, in Jakarta, Monday, was a refinement of that during the construction standardization already exists because of changes kawasa earthquake prone.

He said, BSN has sent a notification letter to the government through the State Secretariat of the new SNI for the construction of earthquake resistant buildings.

According to him, this standardization is important because the construction of buildings in earthquake-prone areas is different from the construction that must be met for development in a safe area.

In addition to the president, building construction standards are also submitted to the Secretary of the Cabinet, and the ministers of disaster-related issues.

SNI for the construction of these buildings have been issued by the department in the form of technical guidelines, while some local governments out in the form of local regulation.

According to the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works Research and Development Agency, Supardi, this latest SNI improve zoning earthquake-prone regions, associated with innovative technologies and frequency of earthquakes that occurred in one area.
