"For the year 2008, the AAPA has airline reported a net loss of 4.3 billion dollars, compared to profit in 2007," said Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) Tuesday.

AAPA Director General, Andrew Herdman warns that the challenge faced by many sectors, especially the flight spread of swine flu.

"The price of oil declined again, but the challenges we now face a more severe year 2009 from year ago," said Herdman.

Herdman said in the first quarter, international air cargo volume decreased 25 percent, while international passenger travel declined 11 percent.


Since earnings decrease, to cover the company has raised the cost of aviation fuel. Airline profits have decreased sharply, AAPA said in a statement.

According to AAPA, in the second semester of year 2008 the number of international passengers decreased 2.2 percent, while the load factor average passenger two points to be decreased 75 percent.

The statement said that international air cargo AAPA members for 2008 decreased 67 percent.
